چکیده
We study the dynamics of atomization a liquid column by coaxial gas flow with varying pressures. Specifically, we analyse how density increase associated elevated pressures in ambient and co-flowing jet influences destabilization breakup process, as well resulting droplet formation dispersion. present new experimental results for liquid–gas atomizer operating high-pressure environment, gas–liquid momentum ratio range $M = 5\unicode{x2013}56$ pressurized densities $\rho _g/\rho _0 1\unicode{x2013}5$ , where _0$ is at standard conditions. High-speed shadowgraphy images are used to quantify spatially temporally interface spray near-field. Liquid core lengths, spreading angles other metrics presented, influence identified from comparison atmospheric In mid-field, phase Doppler interferometry conjunction laser velocimetry size velocities, their radial variations across spray. Results show an pressures, when keeping constant. Finally, that these observations line predictions Kelvin–Helmholtz Rayleigh–Taylor instabilities, both which relevant process.

Flow mechanisms in high pressure gas atomization
Very fine (d < 10/~m) metal and alloy powders can be produced efficiently by a high pressure gas atomization (HPGA) technique. Rapid solidification processing, metal injection molding, thermal spraying and other emerging powder-processing approaches benefit from the use of such fine powders. This paper reports on the results of an investigation of gas atomization process dynamics with emphasis ...

متن کاملAtomization in Gas - Centered Swirl - Coaxial Injectors ( POSTPRINT )
A preliminary study of atomization mechanisms in gas-centered swirl-coaxial injectors for use in rocket engines has been undertaken. Gas-centered swirl-coaxial injectors differ from other injectors in that atomization occurs from a wall-bounded liquid. Few studies of atomization mechanisms in wall-bounded flows exist; some probable atomization processes have been determined, however. These mech...
متن کاملA New Method to Calculate the Absolute Amount of High-Pressure Adsorption of Supercritical Fluid
In the paper we developed a new method to determine the absolute amount of adsorption. This method relies on the excess adsorption isotherm and the density profile in the pore of one material. To compute the density profile and decrease complex calculation of obtaining the absolute amount of adsorption we introduced Simplified Local-Density (SLD) model. A few of appropriate parameters were ...
متن کاملAtomization of viscous and non-newtonian liquids by a coaxial, high-speed gas jet. Experiments and droplet size modeling
This paper describes a collaborative theoretical and experimental research effort to investigate both the atomization dynamics of non-Newtonian liquids as well as the performance of coaxial atomizers utilized in pharmaceutical tablet coating. In pharmaceutically relevant applications, the coating solutions being atomized are typically complex, non-Newtonian fluids which may contain polymers, su...
